Wanted To Be At FSU/Gives FSU time to build around him

Thomas Castellanos wanted to come to FSU out of high school because it was his dream school. He has had relatives to attend, but he wanted to play quarterback.

That fact and that Gus Malzahn was the offensive coordinator likely were the deciding factors, and why he committed so quickly without visiting anywhere else.

I wanted FSU to wait on taking a commitment until they vetted more candidates. However, taking Castellanos this early removes a huge question mark from the equation.

The coaching staff can now spend time addressing their biggest need in the transfer portal, which is offensive linemen.

They also need tight ends and wide receivers. It's easier to sell that vision to those guys when they know who the quarterback will be. Will Castellanos attract top receivers and tight ends? Probably not, but FSU had a potent top-10 offense in 2022 with only one NFL-type player at the skill positions and Jordan Travis at quarterback.

If Castellanos makes plays with his legs, and FSU runs the ball consistently and they play good defense? They can win a lot of games in 2025 as long as they don't turn it over much on offense.
