FOUR-STAR QB LANDON DUCKWORTH

Florida State football already had to replace the likes of five-star signal-caller Brady Smigiel, who de-committed to the Seminoles. It was a tough break with Smigiel since he was so talented.

However, Smigiel mentioned to reporters that the biggest reason for backing off was that he was recruited to be featured in head football coach Mike Norvell's calling the plays. What is crazy is that offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was where Norvell found an identity with his scheme.

I get it on Smigiel's part, though, because he might see Malzahn's offense as a run-first type of offense. It probably benefits the Seminoles to look elsewhere since he is a pro-style quarterback.

One name that I am monitoring at the quarterback position is four-star Landon Duckworth. Florida State has some work to do in the recruitment, but they are pushing hard to obtain his services. Duckworth was previously crystal-balled to UCF when Malzahn was the head coach there.

The quarterback recorded 4,000 total yards and 51 total touchdowns during the 2024 season.
