FSU football 2025 over/under win total projections still not out, an ominious sign?

What are they doing?

The FanDuel Sportsbook released over/under win total projections for several teams earlier this week. FSU football was not among those teams, although several ACC teams had projections listed.

Is that an ominous sign for the Noles, or is it that oddsmakers are probably spending more time assessing the talent FSU acquired via the transfer portal and how it fits together?

We can't forget that FSU has new coordinators on offense and defense and a handful of new coaches at different positions. It's a much different team than the team that started the 2024 preseason at No. 10 and went 2-10.

FSU has the sixth-best odds to win the ACC at +1600. Clemson (+270), Miami (+310), SMU (+440), Louisville (+500), and Georgia Tech (+1300) have better odds.

However, FSU is among the top 20 teams with the best odds to win the 2025 National Championship. Only Clemson, Miami, SMU, and Louisville are among the ACC teams with better odds.

If I were a betting man, and I am sometimes. If I had to project FSU's over/under win totals for 2025, I'd probably put it at 7.5. Clemson is at 9.5, and Miami and Louisville are at 8.5. North Carolina is at 7.5, so I'd have to put FSU at 7.5.

When I look at FSU's schedule, it's set up for early success. I can see them going 5-3 or 6-2 in its first eight games. However, those final four games with three on the road add to the difficulty level quite a bit.

FSU will be an underdog against Clemson on the road. NC State has always been a tough place to play, and FSU will travel to Florida to end the regular season. The only home game in that stretch is hosting Virginia Tech, and that's likely a winnable game.

The over/under win totals for the rest of the college football landscape should come out soon. It'll be interesting to see how much juice the sportsbooks put on the over/under. If the juice isn't too much, I'd probably take the over if it's a 7.5-win total.
