FSU coaches have over 80 percent of their recruiting class finished with 22 commitments and only have three or four uncommitted targets remaining.
FSU might get one or two of those targets to commit, which means they will continue to have recruiting needs once the season begins at the end of August.
The offensive line and defensive end positions are the two where FSU will probably need the most help and there's one team in the ACC who has commits that could fill those needs.
That ACC team will probably have a rough start to the season and fall well short of the 10 wins they achieved in year one. If that happens, they'll be ripe for the picking if FSU wins eight or more games like they're supposed to do against this 2025 schedule.
That team is the Syracuse Orange. Second-year head coach Fran Brown has done a good job securing commitments from players in the Sunshine State. Some of them were players FSU recruited to one degree or another.
- Jarius Rodgers: 4-star DE
- Javeion Cooper: 4-star OL
- Kamron Wilson: 4-star DE
Rogers has an FSU offer but never took an official visit to FSU. He is the No. 379 player and No. 36 defensive end nationally. He's from Fleming Island HS in Florida, the same high school at FSU running back Sam Singleton.
Javeion Cooper is the No. 326 offensive lineman and the No. 30 offensive tackle. He took an official visit to FSU in June and UCF, Nebraska, and Colorado were the other schools he took official visits with in June.
Kamron Wilson is the No. 403 player and the No. 38 defensive end nationally. FSU offered him in February but didn't bring him in for an official visit. He needs more development than Rogers, but the South Florida product would be better than nothing if FSU can't gain any traction with a better-quality defensive end.
The schedule Syracuse plays in 2025 is no joke:
- @ Tennessee
- vs. UConn
- vs. Colgate
- @ Clemson
- vs. Duke
- @ SMU
- vs. Pittsburgh
- @ Georgia Tech
- vs. UNC
- @ Miami
- @ Notre Dame
- vs. Boston College
That's probably two early losses in the first four weeks, at least one more loss between the SMU, Pitt, and Georgia Tech. They'll be underdogs against Miami and Notre Dame.
That's 7-5 at best and probably a 6-6 record. If FSU can do their thing, I think FSU could poach 1-2 of these guys if they can't find traction elsewhere.
