FSU football coaches have filled most of their 2026 recruiting class, but they continue to beat the bushes for one huge need at the defensive end/JACK position. They have targets taking official visits, and several will be at the Miami game next week.
However, one target from North Carolina, whom they’ve had continued communication with, will take an official visit to FSU for the Wake Forest game weekend.
It’s three-star Damaad Lewis, a 6’4” and 245-pound player from the Charlotte area in North Carolina. FSU offered him a month ago, and now we know it’s serious since the official visit is set. The only other official visit he took was to NC State this summer.

He holds offers from places like California, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Texas, USC, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and others. He ranks as the No. 433 player and No. 48 defensive lineman nationally. He ranks as the No. 22 player in the Tarheel State.
What you’ll notice with Lewis is his size. Tony White and Terrance Knighton seem to prefer guys with more size out of high school. It means they require less physical development and can get on the field quicker. The Desir twins would be a prime example this season.
That's not to say that Lewis would have that type of early impact as a freshman. We'll see how this recruitment plays out. FSU will likely take two or three players at this position in this class. They have some guys that like a lot coming for the Miami game, and how that turns out may impact this recruitment. Lewis coming for an official visit is a good sign either way.
It's good to see they have some solid options even though they don't have any commits at the position this late in the game. If they keep winning, that'll likely change in a hurry.
