FSU football will kick off its 2025 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. It has been a long offseason, and FSU fans are ready to see how much the team has improved over last year’s debacle.
They will find out quickly against a team many consider as a favorite to make the 12-team College Football Playoff. FSU enters the contest as a +13.5 betting underdog, with the over/under at 50.5. Those odds imply the Noles will lose the game something like 32-18.

Is there value in betting on FSU using the spread? I can understand why anyone would be gun-shy about submitting a bet on the Noles in a game like this. However, FSU has a ton of new players and new coordinators.
It’s not like Alabama doesn’t have its own questions going into the game. Additionally, season openers are unusual because of the significant uncertainty, and teams have had the entire offseason to make preparations. I think there’s value in the +13.5, but I think I’d wait to see if that line moved to +14 or 14.5 Some folks will bet on Alabama just because of how FSU looked last year.
As far as the total, I’d probably take the under if I had to bet on it. Alabama returns what should be one of the better defenses, and FSU will want to run the ball. I think Alabama will look to run the ball to protect its inexperienced quarterback. That clock will be moving quickly. However, turnovers from either team could impact the scoring, which is why I’d probably stay away from it.
