FSU VS BAMA
Florida State football already had its season-opening victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide on the gridiron by a score of 31-17 in Doak Campbell Stadium. It was a great moment with Seminole athletics to beat the powerhouse.
Florida State was hoping to do the same on the hardwood Thursday night versus Alabama in the debut of head basketball coach Luke Loucks. This was a squad heading into a new era after being led by longtime Leonard Hamilton.
All good things must come to an end eventually, but the fan base was excited to what the former Seminole had in store. Since he coached around NBA players such as Stephen Curry and De'Aaron Fox, there was a common theme: The Seminoles would get up the floor and ton a ton of threes.
ANALYSIS
Florida State ended up losing the game by a score of 109-105. There will be very many shootouts with this team, as they will try to get in passing lanes to get out in the break to score.
The Seminoles shot 14-of-43 from the three-point line, which was music to my ears, as it felt like Florida State was allergic to shooting from long range under Coach Hamilton at times. It was most impressive to see guard Robert McCray V. He finished with 26 points.
The guards were fun to watch, which included guard Lajae Jones, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Seminoles put up a valiant effort against Alabama, which struggled to contain guard Labaron Philon late in the game.
The frontcourt was often worrisome with its rim protection, but the hope is that Florida State can fix the issue over time. Nonetheless, the basketball team doesn't want to have moral victories, but it was an exhibition game that the Seminoles can build on for later in the season.
