CHARLIE WARD HONORED

This was a day in Tallahassee, as former Florida State legend Charlie Ward got his No. 12 basketball jersey retired in the Tucker Center. Ward was someone that the fan base will never forget, as he was also a national champion and Heisman winner.

The great is now the head basketball coach at Florida A&M, who the Seminoles were taking on in their exhibition match. Florida State had to lick its wounds from the first exhibition matchup against Alabama.

The times are different in Tallahassee, as the Seminoles have a new era under head basketball coach Luke Loucks. The offense is fast-paced and likes to shoot three-points. This is different from the previous regime with Coach Hamilton.

FSU BASKETBALL MATCHUP

Florida State basketball got itself back on the right track, as the Seminoles defeated the Florida A&M Rattlers by a score of 88-54. It was much needed for the program to gain more confidence.

Senior guard Robert McCray V was the Seminoles' leading scorer with 15 points. He connected on 4-of-6 from the field, with being 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Florida State only shot 9-of-32 (28.1%) from distance. Plus, it was a collective effort on the board, as four players in the game had six rebounds.

However, Florida State was able to contain the Florida A&M Rattlers, where they allowed them to only shoot 31% from the field. They also limited them from three-point range, as the Rattlers shot 5-of-30. The encouraging aspect was that Florida State shot 82% from the free throw line, which will be huge for later in the season.

Florida State will start its regular season against Alcorn State in the friendly confines of the Tucker Center on Tuesday, November 4th at 7:00 PM EST on the ACC Network Extra.
