FSU basketball (11-4, 2-2 ACC) got its second ACC win in as many games with an 80-65 blowout over the rival Miami Hurricanes.
Leonard Hamilton's ownage of Miami continues and former FSU player Matthew Cleveland continues to feel the wrath of FSU since transferring to Miami. FSU has won 14 of the last 15 against the Hurricanes.
FSU opened up a 39-25 halftime lead, with Miami trimming the lead to six points in the second half. However, FSU's defense ignited an 11-0 run about midway through the second half to put the game away. FSU shot 50 percent overall and made 10 of 24 three-point attempts.
They only went to the free-throw line 11 times and made six. Malique Ewin led the way offensively with 20 points. Taylor Bol Bowen had 16 and Jamir Watkins had 10.
The FSU defense created 20 points off Miami's 13 turnovers and only had 10 turnovers themselves. The Noles held Miami to 36 percent shooting overall and 23.8 percent from the three-point line.
FSU dominated the game everywhere. They outscored Miami 38 to 28 in the paint and were +14 on the boards. The only thing Miami did better was get to the free-throw line, making 16 of 23.
FSU had 26 assists, and Miami had 11. FSU continues to beat up bad teams but will have a big game on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they travel to face the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers are (12-4, 4-1 ACC) and will be a good barometer to see if FSU's play over the past two games is them improving or simply beating bad teams.
