Florida State had one commitment in its 2028 recruiting class. Lamar Garrison committed to the Noles on August 31, 2025, right after FSU upset the Alabama Crimson Tide. That probably seemed like a great time to join the program.
However, it was way too early for a kid to commit and for any program to accept the commitment of a high school wide receiver that young. FSU accepted the commitment, but Garrison announced he was decommitting on Monday afternoon:

FSU should concentrate more on the trenches than worrying about 2028 wide receivers anyways
Garrison has received several offers from some major Power Four programs, and I respect him for decommitting because he believes he committed too early. He did, and anyone expecting him to remain committed for over two years in this day and age is fooling themselves. Is it possible that he comes back into the fold once he experiences what the other schools have to offer? It’s possible. However, it’s possible that he might not be what they project him to be in a couple of years. It makes sense for both parties.
Wide receiver is one of the last positions I'd worry about a player decommitting this far out. It's a difficult transition for high school players to begin with, and they often fail to make an early impact. It's a position that I'd consider going to the transfer portal to acquire talent instead of tying up resources trying to develop high school guys that are really raw coming out of high school.
Former FSU wide receiver Hykeem Williams is a prime example. Who knows, the odds of Mike Norvell being the head coach at FSU in 2028 are fairly low. It's a long way from now, so we'll have to see how those dominoes fall. Good luck to this young man in the meantime.
