Former FSU football wide receiver Keon Coleman has always marched to the beat of his own drum. He was hilarious while at FSU, and his interviews with the media after getting drafted by the Buffalo Bills are legendary. He’s insanely talented, blessed with attributes that could make him one of the better wide receivers in the NFL.

However, inconsistency and potentially a lack of love for the game have put him in a space where the off-the-field stuff could make him expendable. Former NFL great wide receiver Chad Johnson must see something in Keon Coleman, because he spoke about him on his podcast this week, saying he plans to work with him:

Keon Coleman is often misunderstood, but he needs to produce on the field to offset all of that

If anyone knows how to blur the lines of showman and performing well on the field, it’s Chad Johnson. Johnson always had a flair for the dramatic, but his work ethic and desire to be great were never questioned. It’s also why he was one of the best receivers in the league. He was a six-time Pro-Bowler and three-time All-Pro.

Johnson and the crew on the podcast imply it’s the money that may have caused some issues for Coleman. Johnson is known for not splurging on things and spending his money wisely. It might be the perfect combination to help Keon Coleman on and off the field. Coleman has faced disciplinary issues because of being late to team meetings, and the Buffalo Bills owner largely said he didn’t want to draft Coleman in a press conference recently.

Coleman is only 22-years old and still has time to figure out what he wants his legacy to be. Here's to hoping he can figure that out and go on to have a long, productive career in the NFL.
