Former FSU receiver gets the petty treatment from fans after transferring for nothing

So much for that development.

Former FSU wide receiver Hykeem Williams was one of the prized signings in the 2023 class. However, the raw receiver showed up out of shape and took all offseason to get into shape before an injury hampered his freshman season. Williams only appeared in eight games and had five receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

He played in only nine games as a sophomore and had 16 receptions for 187 yards and one touchdown while dealing with injuries. Williams decided to transfer after the 2024 season. FSU didn’t try to keep him because he was always hurt and didn’t seem to want to fully buy in.

That seemed to leave a bad taste in his mouth because he’s tried to throw FSU under the bus a few times since arriving in Colorado. The latest was only a few days ago, when he said he has gotten way more development in a few months at Colorado than at FSU.

Ironically, Williams didn’t start in Colorado’s season opening loss against Georgia Tech and didn’t have a catch until the third quarter. A screen pass, much like one of the few routes he could run at FSU. He managed to catch a second pass to finish with 21 yards in the game.

So much for that development, and FSU fans are not ones to let stuff slide. They voiced their opinions on social media:

I can’t blame the fans on this one. Williams was incredibly raw out of high school and got by on physical gifts, but failed to transition to the college game like a lot of talented wide receivers. He’s running the same stuff he ran while at FSU, so maybe it wasn’t the coaching after all?

He has to know FSU fans gonna keep coming for him after the comments he made. The only way he will shut them up is if he actually produces at his new home, but that Colorado offense didn't look like anything special at all.
