FSU FOOTBALL IN 2024
In case you missed it, Florida State football was awful in 2024, where they finished with a 2-10 record. They had wins over California and Charleston Southern. I never envisioned in a million years that I would witness the Seminoles be that bad, but here we are.
Head football coach Mike Norvell had to make a few crucial decisions to stabilize the program into something sustainable. It wasn't easy, as Coach Norvell decided to take on a CEO role within the team and hand the offensive playcalling duties to longtime coach Gus Malzahn. The changes didn't stop there as they added forty-four transfers/recruits and six new coaches.
It is now or never for Norvell, according to some of the fan base. While I am supportive of this coaching staff, some of them had to go. One individual that individuals wanted to see go was offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins (he is an assistant coach at LSU).
JULIAN ARMELLA
This isn't meant to be a direct shot at Coach Atkins, but there were concerns about him being able to develop high school talent while he was in Tallahassee. One recruit that was thought to be a slam dunk when they signed him was former five-star prospect Julian Armella from Miami, Florida.
Armella was a recruit that the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes were going after, but it seemed like his hand technique needed cleaning. After a few years of not developing at Florida State, Armella ended up transferring to UCLA.
There have been sources inside the program that Armella is projected to start at the right guard position. When he was at Florida State, many individuals thought that he would end up being a tackle, but I am glad that the offensive lineman is working to have a stable location to play college football.
