Florida State started to get involved with former Class of 2025 five-star athlete Amaree Williams. The talented prospect elected to reclassify from the 2025 cycle to 2024. This comes with an adjustment because it requires the youngsters to get their frames in shape to handle the responsibilities of college football.
Williams was one of those do-it-all type of recruits that just wanted to help the team win. The fan base thought that when the Seminoles signed him to the 2024 recruiting class, it would be a redshirt year for him to get acclimated to the collegiate game.
However, the coaching staff had a different plan in mind. They knew that Williams was a dangerous weapon when on the field, so they decided to put him at tight end. The Seminoles were originally recruiting him as a defensive end, so the choice of tight end was confusing since they had Kyle Morlock and Landen Thomas at the position.
Unfortunately, 2024 became a year for the youngsters to develop, as the Florida State Seminoles finished with a 2-10 record during that campaign. Williams did showcase flashes of growth at tight end as he finished with five receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns (according to ESPN Stats and Information).
Amaree Williams moved on from Florida State in what was a bit of a surprising move
The 2025 season was a bit of an adventure for Amaree Williams, though, as the coaching staff wanted to give him more reps at defensive end. He still had two receptions for 51 yards at tight end, but the West Palm Beach, Florida, native collected ten tackles and 1.5 sacks on defense.
The Desir Twins and Kevin Wynn were pieces on the defensive line that were thought of highly by this coaching staff, but Amaree Williams was a player whom they thought that they could mold into something special.
Unfortunately, Williams elected to transfer to Mississippi State this offseason. The Bulldogs are asking him to be more of a pass-rushing role for their defense, which is something that he seems more comfortable doing.
Here is a Q&A that On3's Mississippi State site, "Maroon and White Daily," conducted with former Florida State defensive end Amaree Williams, where he discusses topics about the Seminoles.

Mississippi State had a lack of pass rushers last season and is hoping that Amaree Williams and Trevion Williams can shoulder the load of the Bulldogs' defense.
