Former Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos had dreams of getting drafted by an NFL team if he had a great season in Tallahassee last year. The smaller quarterback had shown some flashes of greatness here and there while at Boston College, especially with his ability to extend plays with his legs.
However, the odds of Castellanos getting drafted were relatively low because of his size and lack of arm strength. It looks like he’s trying to parlay his athleticism into another opportunity to get drafted or make an NFL team as an undrafted free agent:

A lot of folks would have lost money if you told them to bet on Castellanos drawing real interest as a slot receiver by NFL teams.
The report mentions teams are interested in Castellanos at quarterback and as a slot receiver. I find the former to be far-fetched, unless a team wants to use Castellanos as a practice squad player to help prepare for mobile quarterbacks they’ll face.
Castellanos making the move to slot receiver seems much more plausible. He’s shifty in short areas, with the ability to accelerate up to top speed quickly, which would be quality traits in the NFL. Can he catch? Apparently, Castellanos has been working out as a receiver in preparation for the opportunity should it arise.
Castellanos is on the smaller side, but he showed great toughness while playing quarterback at Florida State. It’s possible he could make a play to make a special teams unit on an NFL team. FSU only has one player who’ll likely get drafted in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. That’s defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. If Castellanos gets drafted or even signs with a team as an undrafted free agent, I think that would be a surprise, considering how his career ended at FSU, and he’s never played any other position except quarterback in college.
Castellanos gave it his all while in Tallahassee, but he just wasn’t good enough to elevate the team to where it needed to go. We wish him good luck in his NFL pursuit.
