Florida State football is trying to get back on the right track, as it has accumulated four losing seasons in six years under head coach Mike Norvell. The sustainable success has to be in place to get the fan base to invest and get high schoolers and transfers to sign with the university.
This is a massive 2026 season for Coach Norvell, as he looks to get the Seminoles back on the right track. The recruiting class for the 2027 cycle only has five commitments, but Florida State is getting a ton of prospects in for official visits during the summer.
The 2025 class had quality members that Florida State played, such as running back Ousmane Kromah, as well as defensive linemen Mandrell and Darryll Desir. The hope is that the 2026 cycle brings similar results.
This former commit, Jaylen Scott, cannot seem to make up his mind with his decision
Florida State will be welcoming in a new cornerbacks coach in Blue Adams after the dismissal of former assistant Patrick Surtain Sr. The fan base doesn't know much about Coach Adams, so the jury is still out on how his unit will perform.
However, the Seminoles have talented cornerbacks on their roster, such as Ja'Bril Rawls, Nehemiah Chandler, Quindarrius Jones, Charles Lester III, Chuck Kennon, and more.
This group of players should excite high schoolers who want to pledge to Florida State. They already have talented defensive back prospects in their 2027 recruiting class, such as four-star MeKhi Williams and Jemari Foreman. However, the ultimate goal is to land at least two more.
Florida State did have four-star safety Jaylen Scott from Mobile, Alabama, in the fold. However, he de-committed back in June 2025. The recruitment has been a drama-filled mess that the fan base is glad that they don't have to deal with anymore.

Scott committed to Oklahoma on Saturday night, which is the third school that he has been involved with in the last year. Four-star safety Kennedy Green and three-star cornerback Brandon Allen Jr. (Mississippi State commit) are two prospects that the Seminoles have scheduled official visits for this summer.
The defensive back target board doesn't look fantastic, but hopefully, assistant coaches Evan Cooper and Blue Adams can expand their horizons with new offers and opportunities.
