Florida State basketball head coach Luke Loucks said he was ready to do work when the transfer portal opened last week, but it was a slow burn for the first few days. That burn has turned into a blue flame over the past two days as he has landed two major additions from the transfer portal.
Florida State landed former McDonald’s All-American Shon Abaev a couple of days ago, and landed another major target on Wednesday evening in one of the most coveted transfer portal players, UNC-Asheville’s Kameron Taylor.
Taylor was an All-Big South First Teamer a year ago, averaging nearly 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists per game. He shot 45 percent from the floor. The 6’7” and 185-pound guard shot 28 percent from the three-point line and 70 percent from the free-throw line.
Taylor was contacted by the following schools since entering the transfer portal:
Kansas, Indiana, SMU, Texas, Louisville, Virginia, St. John’s, Michigan, Houston, Ole Miss, Cal, Dayton, Maryland, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Kansas State, and Texas.
Those are some big time programs with a lot of resources, while FSU has more resources than last year, it's still impressive!
Big time get for Luke Loucks, proving he's doing major work in the transfer portal.

High Major Player. There’s no other way to put it, Elite athlete, positional size, engaged defender, he had an impressive FR-SO leap jumping up 10ppg. His shot selection might need some improvement, but it’s hard… pic.twitter.com/HUsdIMbhCy
The bounce he has is elite! He’s similar to Abaev in that he’ll likely need to improve on what types of shots he takes, but he can fill it up when he gets going. He has outstanding length, which should be a plus on the defensive side, as he averaged nearly a steal and a block per game.
He fits the mold that Luke Loucks spoke about nearly a month ago. A player with excellent athleticism that can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways and be active on the defensive end. He has two years of eligibility remaining, while bringing in two years of experience. I like this take a lot and I'm excited to see what he can do in Luke Loucks system.
