Florida State softball fans saw their nightmare of Isa Torres officially entering the transfer portal become true on Monday as soon as it opened. That news, tacked onto the news that Jaysoni Beachum planned to enter the transfer portal, meant FSU softball would lose two of its best and most accomplished players.
It could have been worse, though, because it’s possible that other proven players could have followed them right out of the door and into the transfer portal as well. However, the opposite happened, as Florida State softball answered two major questions nearly immediately after the Isa Torres news broke.
Two-way star Ashtyn Danley announced she would return for the 2027 season, and ACC Pitcher of the Year Jazzy Francik announced she would return for the 2027 season.

I like the pictures chosen and how the FSU softball account emphasized the two posts.
That’s the best pitcher in the ACC and an All-American plan to return to Florida State. That’s major news for Florida State, which keeps the core of its pitching depth in place for next season. Freshman Bella Dimitrijevic will have a year of experience and development, and Florida State has some talented freshman arms joining the circle as well.
The biggest remaining needs will be trying to replace the offensive and defensive production of Torres and Beachum. Both were elite defensively and were the top two offensive threats at the plate. Both batted over .400 and had double-digit home runs and crazy high on-base percentages.
The latter will be the biggest thing to replace, because that’s where the FSU team was weakest last year, even with Torres and Beachum. It’s a bad look to lose both, but at least FSU isn’t completely falling apart at the seams with all of its top players leaving. That seemed like it might be the case earlier on Monday.
How about the Florida State softball official X account throwing a little subtle shade? It's almost like they are emphasizing loyalty over money. Which, if you read the lengthy piece Isa Torres wrote about FSU, that's what it had to be about. Otherwise, why would she spend three years in Tallahassee?
Nevertheless, Florida State might have some stability with the roster now. Those two announcements looked orchestrated by Lonni Alameda. Now, she must get to work in the transfer portal to find some experience and production for 2027.
