Florida State football's coaching staff is trying its best to bring top-tier talent from the high school ranks to campus. Spring practices are going on right now, and the Seminoles want to generate excitement that the program is heading in the right direction.
Florida State recently picked up three-star defensive back Dayon Cooper from the state of Tennessee, but the program isn't even close to being complete, as they only have six prospects committed and are ranked 18th in the country, according to the 2027 247Sports Composite.
This is not where the fan base wants Florida State to be in the rankings. They desire for the Seminoles to be in the top ten of the list and bring in multiple four and five-star prospects. However, the problem lies with having six losing seasons in eight years.
One of Florida State's top defensive end wants is visiting campus right now
With that said, this is Florida State. This is a place where the expectation is to compete for championships every year. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case, and they need to get back to that.
The Seminoles should be able to sell themselves to recruits, given the history and tradition. Plus, there are former players littered throughout the NFL. When Florida State constructed its 2026 recruiting class, the offensive and defensive trenches were something that the Seminoles wanted to address.
However, in the 2027 cycle, defensive ends coach Nick Williams only has the commitment of four-star Anthony Cavallaro from Largo, Florida. With that said, Coach Williams has been working on the recruiting trail, as he has a highly-regarded pass rusher on campus for a visit on Tuesday in four-star Santana Harvey from Lakeland, Florida.
Harvey spoke to reporters after his trip to Florida State on Tuesday, and he mentioned that the Seminoles were sitting at the top in his recruitment. Florida State has an official visit scheduled with Harvey on June 5th, while he will be taking a trip to Clemson on May 29th and Georgia Tech on June 9th (tentatively).
The Lakeland native is someone who can play around on the defensive line with his skill set and frame, and would be a phenomenal grab for Nick Williams and Terrance Knighton.
