On Friday, a Florida State University Athletics spokesperson announced that 2026 three-star defensive lineman Chris Carbin “is no longer part of our program.” There were no further details provided, and at this point, there has been no reporting as to why the departure or removal occurred.
Carbin enrolled at FSU in January after signing in December 2025. The 6-foot-4, 236-pound Powder Springs, Georgia product was one of four edge rushers who signed with the Seminoles and defensive line coach Terrence Knighton in the 2026 class. Knighton is still on staff as the defensive line coach, but Nick Williams was hired this offseason to coach the EDGE position.
Carbin was the No. 77 EDGE in the country and No. 731 overall recruit. He no longer appears on Florida State’s online roster as of Friday morning.
JUCO infielder Tyler Correa commits to FSU
Link Jarrett has largely been focused on rebuilding his roster for the 2027 season after shedding plenty of talent into the MLB Draft this summer. However, this week he has made a move for the further future, landing a commitment from JUCO infielder Tyler Correa, who will play another year at Chipola College before heading to FSU for the 2028 season.
In 53 games last season, Correa hit .372 with five home runs and 51 RBI. The Tallahassee native played at Chiles High School before beginning his two-year JUCO stint last year at Chipola. He will have three seasons of eligibility at FSU.

Arriving at Florida State in 2023 from Iowa Western, where he redshirted as a freshman in 2022, Ashlynd Barker has been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in Tallahassee. That makes the redshirt senior safety a perfect veteran leader for the Seminoles’ defense, and it’s clear that Mike Norvell recognizes those traits in him.
As FSU closed its summer workouts this offseason, Barker was selected to “Break the Rock,” one of the program’s most meaningful traditions that recognizes a player or coach who exemplifies the team’s commitment and accountability through the summer phase of its offseason program.

Barker played 488 snaps across 11 games for FSU last season and is expected to fill an even bigger role after Earl Little Jr.’s departure for Ohio State this offseason.

Duce Robinson may not have begun his career at Florida State, but he’s a legacy Seminole and deeply ingrained in the community. He proved it once again on Thursday by hosting a charity event at The Pickle Pad to benefit Special Olympics Florida.
Robinson’s teammates, offensive lineman Andre Otto and punter Daniel Hughes, took part in the event. Earlier this week, Robinson was named a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes college football players for their community involvement and leadership off the field.

This week, third-year New Mexico State head coach named Furman transfer Trey Hedden his likely starter at Conference USA Kickoff. It’s not yet a done deal, but Hedden has a clear edge over returning QB Adam Damante, who emerged as the Aggies’ starter down the stretch last year.
