Stanford has kicked FSU's tale in every sport except basketball since FSU beat them for the natty in soccer.

Florida State softball hasn’t been in many revenge spots this season, but its ACC Tournament Semifinal game against Stanford fits the bill. FSU only lost three ACC games all season, all three were on the road against the Stanford Cardinals a month ago.

Frankly, they will be playing to break the Stanford curse. The Cardinals have beaten FSU in football, baseball, softball, golf, and volleyball since the FSU soccer team defeated Stanford for the national championship. It has been maddening for Florida State fans, but the social media team seemed to imply this one has their attention:

Can Florida State softball bring an end to Stanford recent reign over FSU sports?

It’s an important game for a few reasons. Yes, the revenge aspect is cool, but Florida State needs more Quad 1 wins in its quest to slide into a top-eight national seed. A win over Stanford would fit the bill and provide another opportunity to gain another Quad 1 win in the ACC Tournament Finals if either Virginia Tech or Duke advance in their bracket.

Florida State seemed out of sync on its West Coast trip. The pitching wasn't great and they issued tons of walks that came back to bite them. The good news is, the pitching has improved greatly since that series. Despite not playing well, Florida State lost two of the three games by one run.

Florida State's pitching was on point Thursday against Georgia Tech. They only allowed three hits, one earned run, one walk, and four strikeouts. However, the offense will need to pick up the pace if they want to beat Stanford. They only scored two runs on four hits and three walks. Georgia Tech didn't strikeout a single FSU batter.

Florida State had plenty of hits against Stanford in its series, but left 25 runners on base. The game will start at 1 p.m. and will air on the ACC Network.
