This was expected, but there is a still a path for the Seminoles

The fallout from Friday's loss to Virginia is complete. FSU dropped 10 spots in the AP Poll, to No. 18. ESPN College GameDay opted for Tuscaloosa instead of Tallahassee (but hey, the ACC Network will be in the house!) and the Seminoles are a slight underdog going into Saturday's showdown with Miami.

And the cherry on top is that FSU's betting odds to win the ACC dropped to +1000 on FanDuel. It's still the fourth-highest odds on the board, showing that there is still plenty of belief in FSU. That being said, the real odds look a lot worse.

The good news is this can change immediately with a win on Saturday night. When there are currently five teams with undefeated conference records and two more teams (MIami and UNC) that don't start conference play until Saturday, the odds are going to look a little wacky.

How much of a 'must win' is Saturday?

FSU has to win Saturday to keep a shot at the playoffs alive. Period. There will be no more ranked teams on the schedule moving forward. With Clemson and Florida in the tank, this is the last chance the Seminoles will have for a noteworthy win this season.

Taking that into account, beating Alabama and Miami in the same season would put the Seminoles in rare air. It's clear that the Crimson Tide are going to be a problem for the rest of the season and FSU can hang its hat on that victory. Unfortunately, the games against East Texas A&M and Kent State basically don't count and in a tight room, even with a 10-2 record, those games against the gutter of non-conference opponents will be used to shut FSU out of the postseason bracket.

So yeah, if FSU wants to have any chance at making the 12-team playoff bracket, the Seminoles absolutely must win Saturday. Another loss and FSU is likely out of the top 25 and the best-case scenario is probably playing inthe Gator Bowl.
