Florida State football's offense was horrific in 2024, as they finished with a 2-10 record. Head football coach Mike Norvell is regarded as an offensive mind, but he even failed in that department last year as the offense failed to generate over 15 points per game.

I get that quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei was an issue that many fans want to blame for the shortcomings. However, the offensive line could not block a soul, the running backs could not find any holes, and the wide receivers could not create separation or catch the football.

That is a recipe for disaster if you ask me. Florida State had a ton of pieces that it has added to its roster via the recruiting ranks and the transfer portal. One of the most notable pieces was former Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos.

Seminole fans know Castellanos very well as he was recruited as a running back in the 2022 cycle by the coaching staff. However, he decided to sign with UCF instead since they were recruiting him to be a quarterback (Malzahn was the head football coach there).

He then transferred to Boston College, where he was a solid dual-threat weapon in 2023, but he struggled at times with turnovers as he threw 14 interceptions. First-year head football coach Bill O' Brien enters the scene in Chestnut Hill during the 2024 season and tries to turn Castellanos into a pro-style quarterback when it is not part of his skill set as a player.

As a result, he enters the transfer portal and finds a home in Tallahassee.

This is a pivotal 2025 season for Coach Norvell and his players as they hope to get back to being championship contenders.

Castellanos looks to be putting in the work this offseason, as he posted on his Instagram story that he was working out with wide receivers Duce Robinson, Jordan Scott, and Jayvan Boggs.

Robinson and Scott are over 6'6" and look to be reliable red-zone targets for Castellanos, while Boggs is probably the highest-upside receiver prospect that the Seminoles landed during the 2025 cycle. It looks like all of them will play a factor in how the offense performs this season. It is very encouraging to see Castellanos building the connection early.
