Freshman Noah Sheffield made his debut as a Nole and got his first collegiate hit against JMU. He's the son of former MLB outfielder Gary Sheffield if you couldn't tell by the batting stance.

FSU redshirt freshman cornerback and former blue-chip recruit Charles Lester was arrested for a DUI charge Monday morning. Lester was released on a $500 bail. FSU typically handles these issues internally, as was the case with Shyheim Brown last year. The off-the-field incidences have been few and far between in the Mike Norvell era.

Within the Big Ten & SEC, momentum builds for an expanded playoff with multi-AQs per league.

Ahead of the SEC-B1G joint meeting, the industry is closer than ever to a new CFP, reimagined league title games, 9-game SEC sked & SEC-B1G scheduling packagehttps://t.co/Rcl99Wndj9
The 14 or 16-team model - 4 AQs each to B1G/SEC; 2 to ACC/B12; 1 G5; 1 or 3 at-large - aligns mostly with conference strength over the last 11 years of the CFP.

FSU is at the mercy of whatever college football folks decide as long as they remain in the ACC. If I were an FSU football fan, I'd worry less about what happens in things like this and more about FSU controlling what it can control. I know it's an oxymoron, but FSU winning on the field solves a lot of its problems. The team going 2-10 and becoming the laughing stock of college football did them no favors in getting out of the ACC or the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the media looking for reasons to be negative towards the Noles.
However, expansion could open the door to the B1G/SEC expanding again and potentially providing FSU an opportunity to get out of the ACC sooner rather than later. Of course, FSU and Clemson continue to negotiate with the ACC/ESPN while still having active lawsuits.
