Florida State JUCO signee sends a confident message that should give FSU fans hope for the future

Marshall not getting on campus in the spring will probably hinder his ability to start, but there's no question he has arm talent.

Florida State has already announced that the starting quarterback for the 2026 season would be in transfer Ashton Daniels. That announcement didn’t come as a surprise to most since he transferred in and has way more experience than redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry.

However, one player that the Florida State fan base can’t wait to get on campus is JUCO quarterback signee Malachi Marshall. Marshall should be in Tallahassee this summer after finishing his stint at Iowa Western Community College. Marshall has been working out in preparation for his arrival in Tallahassee and recently participated in the Gyrations Station QB camp, where he looked impressive, showing his arm talent:

It’s the short message that Marshall said when he retweeted what the QB Athletics coach posted that should grab your attention. The ball looks effortless coming out of his hand with incredible zip for a guy of slight build. There’s no question that Marshall has excellent arm talent. The biggest challenge for him when he arrives at Florida State will be learning the playbook and the nuances of knowing what the defense is trying to take away and where to go with the ball. It'll take some time, but the goal for Marshall is to compete for the starting job in 2027.

Here's a short clip I found the other day that gives you a glimpse into how Marshall ticks. The fact he's willing to speak with young men and give advice shows maturity beyond his years. He has accomplished some things that's rare for players who go the JUCO route. He seems to win wherever he goes, and that's something else that should give Florida State fans hope for the future.

Marshall's name will be one that Florida State wants will want to keep track of this fall. I'll be curious to see how he performs at practice, but he could be the future if all the stars align for Mike Norvell to survive the 2026 season.
