FSU football has always been about family for Mike Norvell, so it was no surprise to see the Seminoles rally around freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard this week. Pritchard was the victim of a shooting this past week and remains hospitalized in stable, but critical, condition.
Saturday's 77-3 win over East Texas A&M was a chance for the entire FSU community to embrace the Pritchard family, and they did not disappoint. Pritchard's father, Earl, was on the sideline with the team during the game, and, after the victory, he had the honor of breaking the rock.

Norvell's "Keep Climbing" foundation donated $10,000 to Pritchard's family to help with the medical costs and the coach was very emotional in his post-game speech.
"Ethan's dad came to spend today with us, and told me the other day, he goes 'this is where his boy wants to be'. We got it done for him," Norvell said. "I want you to take [the game ball] to him. We know he's going to be back with us soon. We appreciate your strength, we appreciate your family and we appreciate your son. We're going to continue to be praying for him as a football family.

It was not the only time that Pritchard was honored during the game. Earl Little Jr. carried Pritchard's jersey with him as the Seminoles took the field. The team also wore armbands with his number 35 on them.
"It's been a very emotional week for us," Norvell said in his post-game press conference. "Ethan is one my...I've recruited him for years. I had a chance to watch him grow [before] he committed to Florida State. The way he plays the game...with the passion...he absolutely loves it."
"To have Earl here today. He's a wonderful man and being with him, I know it's very hard. I know it's hard for anybody to have to go through," Norvell continued. "To see the team and just the embrace for that...it's special."
