Florida State fans learned that a long-time 2027 four-star quarterback target the coaching staff has been working on for at least 2+ years will make his commitment announcement. Four-star QB Wonderful “Champ” Monds will announce on May 1st, live on the Pat McAfee show:

He’ll choose between Florida State, Notre Dame, and Ohio Statehttps://t.co/xSJjXhQu71 pic.twitter.com/SKw6oa7dri
I'd probably put that money towards a player who could actually make an impact as a freshman in 2027.
The writing has been on the wall for the past few weeks. Monds visited Florida State, then Ohio State, and finally Notre Dame. They are not always 100 percent accurate, but Monds received a crystal ball prediction favoring Notre Dame right after he left his visit there or while on his visit.
Shortly after that, the pieces for Florida State to expand its recruiting board started to take place. Another Florida State target, Logan Flaherty, de-committed from UCF, and Florida State coaches have had contact with other 2027 quarterbacks committed to other places.
Florida State has no juice right now, and I find it hard to believe that he’d go on the Pat McAfee show to commit to Florida State over two programs like Ohio State and Notre Dame. Both programs are in better situations with coaching stability, winning lately, and have more resources to offer.
Most Florida State fans don’t even care about high school recruiting at this point, but if you’re one of the few remaining, don’t get your hopes up.
While anything can happen, it's not the end of the world. Monds isn't a quarterback who would come in and start day one, so it's possible Florida State can use those funds at a position with a blue-chip player who could make an impact in year one. I could see that happening at the defensive end position since FSU has several top targets taking official visits this summer.
They also have a JUCO quarterback on the way who'll compete for the starting job in 2027.
