The injuries just keep on coming for Florida State, as star wide receiver Duce Robinson is expected to miss the rest of the season. Robinson left last week's game against Clemson with an injury and did not return, but was seen standing on the sidelines without his helmet.

Today, Robinson's injury was confirmed to be a season-ending ACL tear that will cut his senior campaign short. Pete Thamel of ESPN reported Robinson would not be able to return this season early this afternoon, which is awful news for the talented receiver.

The 2026 campaign has been a less-than-spectacular year for Robinson after posting career-high numbers in 2025. With the injuries at running back to Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr., Robinson was expected to become a bigger part of the offense plan, with the run game potentially stalled. Robinson's injury comes at a terrible time, both for the receiver and the team, as injuries continue to strike.

Florida State might turn to new faces to fill the void without Duce Robinson

The injury to Robinson comes at about the worst possible time for Florida State, as the team is already dealing with numerous injuries. The Seminoles are down to the third and fourth string running backs, essentially halting all progress made on the ground, and now the best threat through the air the team had is done for the season, right after the wide receivers finally got a step closer to being fully healthy.

Highly-touted freshman wide receiver Devin Carter missed the first seven games of the season, but finally was healthy enough to suit up against Clemson. Carter did not record any stats during the game; however, it was still important to see the team move closer to operating at full strength at some positions.

The injury to Robinson complicates things in two big ways, and the first problem that arises involves the overall health of the team. Every program deals with its own injuries, but the Seminoles have consistently dealt with a large number of injuries all season, and adding to the problem is only making the situation worse. It could be a problem with training, or it could just be terrible luck, but Florida State needs to get to the bottom of things.

It is obviously not Robinson's fault that he got injured, but his injury exposes how Florida State doesn't have a roster prepared to just plug in the next guy and move forward. Carter is a talented receiver and someone who likely will see the field now, but Robinson is a massive target who gives Ashton Daniels a better chance of connecting down the field. Florida State does not necessarily have someone on the roster who can replicate what Robinson offered to his quarterback.

The best option for Florida State moving forward could be to focus on getting the tight ends more involved in the passing game. The Seminoles' tight ends only have 14 receptions this season combined, and with limited height at wide receiver now, pushing to get someone like Desirrio Riles more involved seems like the best option.

Riles has been the most productive tight end this season, with seven receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown.
