Florida State and Mike Norvell are closing in on landing a top-ten offensive lineman

This would be a massive grab for Florida State's recruiting class.

Florida State is currently listed as the 42nd-best recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. The Seminoles only have six pledges in their recruiting class, and it has been doom and gloom for a couple of months now.

Arch-rivals Florida and Miami are reeling in recruits, while the Seminoles feel like they are a second-tier program that isn't used to good news. To make matters worse, we discussed that LSU and Lane Kiffin were heavily pursuing Florida State's highest-ranked commitment in four-star defensive back Mekhi Williams.

Since the administration decided to bring back head coach Mike Norvell for the 2026 season, there has been nothing but negativity within the program and among outsiders. Understandably, the Seminoles had four losing seasons during his six years at the helm. However, the administration must be confident that Norvell can return to his 2022 and 2023 form.

Florida State thought that it had a couple of prospects that it was leading for from the 2027 cycle, like four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins from Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia, announced that he will no longer be taking his official visit with the Seminoles on the weekend of June 12th.

Watkins previously announced that Florida State was the top school in his recruitment, so the decision to cancel the trip was very confusing. Nonetheless, this shows the fan base that a change with Mike Norvell could be coming soon.

Offensive lineman Jatori Williams will be announcing his commitment on May 22nd

Florida State could potentially have good news in the near future, as four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams from Phenix City, Alabama, will be announcing his commitment on May 22nd, according to a social media post from 247Sports' Tom Loy. Williams is considered the seventh-best interior offensive lineman in the 2027 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite.

Williams is an interior offensive lineman who is listed at 6'5" and 320 pounds. The offensive lineman went on an unofficial visit to the Seminoles on April 4th. The issue is that schools such as Georgia, Miami, and Kentucky are involved. All of those universities are willing to pay for offensive linemen like him, plus it would be just Florida State's luck to have more bad news coming their way.

The question is, if the offensive lineman commits to the school of his choice, will he still take the official visits elsewhere, or will he cancel them?
