FIREWORKS IN JUNE?

Florida State football fans have been pessimistic when it comes to high school recruiting under the guidance of head football coach Mike Norvell. The emphasis looks to be placed on the transfer portal, rather than building a firm foundation with the youngsters.

Nonetheless, the Seminoles are ranked outside the top 20 in the 2026 recruiting rankings. The program has nine commitments at this time, but Florida State has a few programs trying to sway its prospects away from them.

DEFENSIVE LINE RECRUITING

Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton has not secured a defensive line prospect this cycle after adding Kevin Wynn, LaJesse Harrold, Tylon Lee, Darryl Desir, Mandrell Desir, and Tyeland Coleman in the 2025 cycle.

The fan base was looking to see how Coach Knighton would respond in the 2026 cycle. Some individuals were upset that they went in a different direction with four-star defensive end Cam Brooks, who ended up committing to California.

However, it looks like he has found his guy as Noles247's Zach Blostein has put in a crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida State for Class of 2026 three-star defensive tackle/defensive end Wihtlley Cadeau from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cadeau received an offer from the Seminoles back on May 15th, and it seems as though the coaching staff liked what they saw from him as a prospect. This is a hybrid defensive line that defensive coordinator Tony White could utilize in his multiple 3-3-5 defensive scheme.

THOUGHTS

I know that the Atlanta native came for an official visit this weekend. I also realize that some fans will point out that Cadeau is a three-star prospect, but I do not mind the take by the coaching staff. However, I will mention that I believe that they should have pursued four-star Zavion Griffin-Haynes and four-star Kamron Wilson heavily.
