WE ARE ALMOST HERE
Florida State football fans are counting down the days until the Seminoles take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST on ABC. We have officially reached the fifteen Saturdays away mark!
While I know fifteen Saturdays might seem like an eternity away, it will be here before we know it, and everyone will be chopping it up in front of all of the opposing Alabama fans and show them why the program belongs in the SEC (I am only halfway kidding with the statement).
Two players on the Seminoles' football roster wear the No. 15 jersey in true freshman defensive back Shamar Arnoux and true freshman wide receiver Jayvan Boggs.
Ironically enough, these are two of my favorite true freshmen that I believe could have significant playing time this season.
SHAMAR ARNOUX
Let me start with Arnoux. Florida State's coaching staff tried to get him in the summer with an official visit, but he committed to USC before the Seminoles had a chance. Then Florida State underperformed on the 2024 season, and he flipped from the Trojans to the Auburn Tigers.
However, Florida State got the last laugh as they were able to flip the Carrollton, Georgia native during the Early Signing Period. I thought that if the Seminoles never got Houston cornerback transfer Jeremiah Wilson, Arnoux would be a starter at the position. He will still get a lot of burn there nonetheless.
JAYVAN BOGGS
Florida State football acquired two transfer wide receivers during the transfer portal season in USC's Duce Robinson and Tennessee's Squirrel White. I am a huge fan of both of their skill sets, but I feel like another option needs to emerge after weapons like Hykeem Williams, Jordan Scott, and Jalen Brown left the program.
My solution is to start true freshman Jayvan Boggs. While you might think that it is too much responsibility for a youngster, Boggs had 93 receptions for 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2023 and then had 99 catches for 2,133 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2024. The Cocoa, Florida native is ready to produce at a high level in the Garnet and Gold.
