Ex-FSU commit Amari Thomas will be back in Tallahassee this weekend

Apparently the 4-star running back is having second thoughts

Remember Amari Thomas? He was the 4-star running back prospect that was committed to FSU and then flipped to South Carolina.

Well, apparently the grass might not be greener on the other side, because look who's hanging out in Tallahassee this weekend.

Now, South Carolina plays on Sunday afternoon in Atlanta against Virginia Tech, so conceivably he could make the four-hour drive to the ATL and get a ticket to see the Gamecocks as well, but I don't think that's going to be the case.

There's also another Amari in the mix

e've talked extensively about the lack of an edge rusher and a true offensive tackle in the FSU recruiting class, but there isn't a running back in the class either. That is less of a concern because running backs are so readily available in the transfer portal and are not as expensive as the other positions. But there's still something reassuring about having a homegrown young player at the position, especially when the room could lose some bodies after this season.

When Thomas flipped his commitment to South Carolina, FSU immediately pivoted to Amari Latimer, a composite four-star prospect out of Tyrone, Georgia. At times, it seemed like FSU was on track to flip Latimer or at least get him on campus, but there hasn't been much traction around Latimer recently.

Now that Thomas might be back in the picture, the lack of recent conversation on Latimer makes a lot more sense.

Time to restock the room

FSU's running back room is tilted to the older side. Caziah Holmes and Roydell Williams are seniors. Gavin Sawchuck is a junior, but feels like a one-year guy. Jaylin Lucas is a junior and is more of a gadget guy than a true running back. Samuel Singleton is a sophomore, but he's buried on the depth chart and there's a good chance he could transfer out if he wants more playing time.

That leaves Ousmane Kromah as a super true freshman. Obviously, Kromah is the future (he might also be the present) and bringing in another solid prospect would set FSU up nicely for the next few seasons.

A solid prospect like Amari Thomas...or Amari Latimer.
