It's amazing how quickly things change in college football. June has become the biggest recruiting period for high school players each year, with most players taking their official visits in June and announcing their commitments or waiting until July.
FSU football coaches hosted nearly 60 players for official visits(including several commits) and landed 12 new commits in June.
FSU surged from the 30s to as high as the No. 8 recruiting class nationally and received high praise from ESPN for one of the biggest winners in June recruiting:
"The Seminoles entered June with seven total pledges and only three from the 2026 ESPN 300. As of Monday, Florida State's incoming class sits in a much healthier spot with 12 commits since June 1, providing coach Mike Norvell and his new-look staff a potential springboard toward a stronger finish later this year."
The Noles may finally be in the position to take 25+ high school players for the first time in the Mike Norvell era. They have 20 total commits with several targets remaining on their recruiting board who could announce in July or in August before the season kicks off. There's always the possibility of gaining commits during the season if FSU can somehow exceed expectations and start the season 4-1 or 5-0.
That would be the shot in the arm needed for this new coaching staff to confirm the message they've been telling recruits regarding the changes made to how they do things with a new staff. It would discredit some of the messaging from other schools negatively recruiting against FSU.
How well they do will depend on the early part of the season(which is the most manageable portion). They have five players scheduled to visit for the Alabama game in the season opener.
It'll be interesting to see how they close in July. If they can get to 25 commitments before July ends, it would be a great sign. The next challenge would be holding on to those commitments once the season starts.
