FSU FOOTBALL DISAPPOINTMENT

Florida State football wet the bed on Friday night as they lost by a score of 46-38 in double overtime to the Virginia Cavaliers. The Seminoles were favored by 6.5 points by many of the oddsmakers. This was supposed to be a game that the program needed to win.

With a matchup looming against Miami, it was important for head football coach Mike Norvell to keep his squad focused on the task at hand. However, these are 18-23-year-olds who can be inconsistent with their play.

There was a possibility that College GameDay would be headed to Tallahassee, but the Seminoles' loss likely made it easier to head to Tuscaloosa for Alabama's matchup versus Vanderbilt. This likely wasn't because the network was being "biased" towards the SEC. Florida State didn't take care of business.

FSU IS A SLEEPING GIANT

The college football is now sleeping on the Seminoles after hyping them up over their season-opening win over Alabama. Florida State can fly under the radar, as oddsmakers aren't giving them a chance this Saturday against arch-rival Miami.

The AP Poll dropped on Sunday, which had the Seminoles down to No. 18. This was a ten-spot for a program that many individuals thought would be a College Football Playoff contender.

With that said, not everyone is doubting Florida State as ESPN's Rece Davis had the Seminoles as the eighth-best team in his AP ballot, which was ahead of Alabama (No. 9). This is an interesting perspective as the Crimson Tide just beat Georgia on the road and Davis graduated from Alabama.

Nonetheless, it seems like he valued the head-to-head result over recent success for Alabama. To be honest, Florida State is still a good team regardless of what happens on Saturday night. They need to continue being a consistent product in running the football and being physical on defense.
