Florida State football disappointed during the 2024 season where they had a 2-10 record. Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that something needed to change. The Seminoles were not living up to the standard as a program.

Norvell went and decided to hire new coaches. This has been something that the fan base knew was going to happen since the program did not perform up to its preseason expectations of winning a conference championship and having a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Seminoles have acquired fourteen transfers after landing Tennessee defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins. The defensive end has a ton of potential but did not put a ton of statistics up for the Volunteers during the 2024 season.

Defensive coordinator Tony White and defensive line coach Terrance Knighton have been relentless on the recruiting trail with acquiring talent via the recruiting ranks and transfer portal. However, the job is not finished as the coaching staff wants to get more transfers.

On Saturday night, the assistant coaching staff was showcasing a sense of good news for the Seminoles as they were posting positive GIFs left and right. However, the commitment came once again as former Memphis linebacker transfer Elijah Herring committed to Florida State.

Herring had 60 tackles (eight for loss) and two interceptions for the Tigers in 2024. He also had 80 tackles (four for loss) and 0.5 sacks in 2023 with Tennessee. This was a linebacker that the Seminoles could not afford to miss. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

He will provide veteran leadership in a position room with talented pieces such as Omar Graham Jr., Blake Nichelson, Justin Cryer, Caleb LaVallee, and Jayden Parrish. This is a good room for linebackers coach John Papuchis to build around.
