DT Darrell Jackson Jr. could have a monster game with Bama OL Jaeden Roberts injury

This could be a momentum shift for the Florida State Seminoles.

FSU FOOTBALL SEASON OPENER

Florida State football will be taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in their season opener on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST on ABC. The Seminoles have been doubted and counted out in this game after their 2-10 record last year.

However, what is in the past stays in the past. This is a Florida State team that has transformed its roster after adding forty-four transfers and recruits this offseason. This is a squad that will be completely different from the fan that might have checked out after the loss to Florida at home.

With that said, Florida State is ready to make 2025 the best year possible with hopes and aspirations of competing for a conference and national championship. We know that Alabama is a talented bunch, but they are beatable as they finished to limp to the end of the season with a 9-4 record with notable losses to Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Michigan.

ALABAMA INJURY WOES?

We know that Alabama football is dealing with a couple of injuries this offseason. It was recently noted that potential starting running back Jam Miller will be missing multiple weeks of the season due to a collarbone injury.

That is a big loss to the university. We at ChopChat never want to see players from opposing teams get hurt, but I know that the Crimson Tide will probably have a highly-touted player who is waiting in the wings to get their opportunity.

Some rumblings occurred with offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts, who was projected to be a starting guard for the Crimson Tide, and could miss the season opener versus Florida State. Roberts has started 21 games for the program over the past two years.

TIME FOR DARRELL JACKSON JR. TO STEP UP

Roberts is still in concussion protocol, so it could be an injury that could linger. This could mean that redshirt senior defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. of Florida State could play a factor in the game.

Jackson Jr. is a physical freak who is listed at 6'5" and 337 pounds. The former Maryland and Miami transfer doesn't have defensive tackle Joshua Farmer in the defense anymore, so he can shine by himself in defensive coordinator Tony White's multiple 3-3-5 scheme.

Overall, this is a now-or-never type of game for Jackson Jr. as he looks to make his NFL dream a reality.
