WHY ARE WE BRINGING UP A VETERAN FROM 2024?
I already know what fans are going to say: "Why are we talking about returning players from Florida State football's 2024 season?" For reference, the Seminoles finished with one of the worst records in program history.
Nonetheless, it doesn't mean that there were talented players on the roster. Sometimes in life, we have to learn from our mistakes and respond to adversity. That is exactly what head football coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles will need to do in 2025.
OFFENSIVE LINE IMPROVEMENT IN 2025?
With that said, I am excited about the development of the offensive line this upcoming season, with it being guided by new assistant coach Herb Hand. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn has a calling card for running the football effectively.
In doing that, the offensive guards will have to be ready for the inside zone run schemes that Malzahn demands. One name that I am excited for is former Florida interior offensive lineman Richie Leonard IV that was secured last offseason.
Leonard IV suffered a season-ending injury after his fourth game of the year. He was successful with the Gators in 2023, where he started all twelve games at left guard. The discussion will be had about the transfer offensive linemen that Coach Hand secured, such as Gunnar Hansen, Adrian Medley, Luke Petitbon, Micah Pettus, Josh Raymond, and Ja'Elyne Matthews. They are the "new kids on the block".
EMPHASIS ON THE GROUND GAME
Florida State is on a mission to get its running game back on track in 2025 by bringing in former Oklahoma transfer Gavin Sawchuk and four-star signee Ousmane Kromah. The veteran offensive guard will be pivotal in providing rushing lanes for the playmakers.
The coaching staff expressed that they want to be physical on the offensive side of the football, and the Cocoa, Florida native looks to help change the current narrative of Florida State in 2025.
