Florida State football will be facing off against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 1 of the 2025 college football season. This will be a pivotal time for the Seminoles to redeem themselves after what transpired from a 2-10 record.
Some individuals even think that head football coach Mike Norvell should be on the chopping block after the disaster. While I am not of that opinion, I do think Florida State football has to get back on the right track in terms of respectability.
The Alabama contest is a good barometer of where the program is heading. This isn't the Crimson Tide during the Nick Saban era. This is an Alabama team that finished 9-4 under first-year head football coach Kalen DeBoer. He has his own set of expectations amongst his fan base.
With that said, the Week 1 slate is loaded with games such as Florida State-Alabama, LSU-Clemson, Tennessee-Syracuse, Utah-UCLA, and Ohio State-Texas. The Seminoles' fan base wants to know if College GameDay personality Lee Corso will head to Tallahassee for the contest since Corso will be hanging it up after Week 1.
I know that Seminole fans have been resentful since there are individuals who feel like ESPN sabotaged undefeated Florida State's College Football Playoff chances in 2023. However, it seems like water under the bridge at this point since the Seminole faithful want to send Corso out on a good note.
He played all over the field for Florida State from 1953-1956, where he finished with 2,650 all-purpose yards, 19 total touchdowns, and 14 defensive interceptions.
Luckily for Florida State fans, Ohio State versus Texas in Week 1 has been announced to it will be televised on FOX and will be the site of Big Noon Kickoff. It could still mean that ESPN's College GameDay could have the game on its network, too.
While I have a weird feeling that ESPN could go with the LSU-Clemson contest, they could make this a special moment for Lee Corso as he finishes his historic career in Tallahassee.
Do the right thing, College GameDay!
