Florida State did not have a productive offense in 2024, where it averaged 89.9 rushing yards per game. The rushing attack was non-existent.

The Seminoles brought in former UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn to be their offensive coordinator. His focal point in his offenses is the ability to run the football. The problem is that many of the contributors at the running back position from last year return (minus Lawrance Toafili).

However, the optimistic side is that Florida State secured four-star signee Ousmane Kromah from the grips of the home-state Georgia Bulldogs on Early Signing Day. It seems to believe that the Lee County High School standout will be a major contributor.

It could be a major hurdle that he has to navigate since Kromah is a summer enrollee. That said, some Florida State fans think Roydell Williams, Caziah Holmes, Kameron Davis, and Sam Singleton Jr. are average options on the roster, so that means Kromah will have to start.

I am not sitting here saying that a true freshman who enrolled in the summer will be the No. 1 answer on the roster as they take on Alabama in Week 1. However, I believe that he has the intangibles of size, speed, and burst to be that guy. For reference, Kromah recorded 168 carries for 1,356 yards and 15 touchdowns during his senior season.

Florida State's coaching staff might be hesitant to wait until the summer to take the chance on Kromah if he is ready and wants to get someone with experience. Oklahoma running back transfer Gavin Sawchuk is set to visit the Seminoles.

Sawchuk was riddled with injuries during the 2024 season, where he had 39 carries for 128 yards and one touchdown. The talented back had 120 attempts for 744 yards and nine touchdowns in 2023 when he was at full strength.

In his final five games in 2023, he had 617 rushing yards and six touchdowns against Oklahoma State, West Virginia, BYU, TCU, and Arizona. He also had 15 carries and 100 yards with one touchdown in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl versus Florida State.
