Defensive tackle Joshua Farmer boosting his draft stock at 2025 NFL Combine

Former FSU defensive tackle Joshua Farmer is one of three players at the 2025 NFL Combine. The first high school recruit to commit to FSU in the Mike Norvell era epitomizes player development, signing with FSU as a 250-pound three-star defensive lineman and checking at the NFL Combine at 305 pounds.

The redshirt junior chose to forgo his senior season for the opportunity to change his family's fortune. Farmer's parents died when he was young, and he's the oldest child who's been helping take care of his siblings.

Farmer has been improving his draft stock over the past year. The 2024 season was terrible at FSU, but Farmer put enough good moments on tape to catch the attention of NFL Scouts.

His performance at the Senior Bowl continued to boost his draft profile, and he had a great day at the 2025 NFL Combine on Thursday.

He ran a respectable 5.11 forty-yard dash with a 1.77 split. He had a 29-inch vertical leap and a 9'4" broad jump.

The drills are where Farmer stood out the most.

Most projections by analysts have Farmer going in the second or third round. He hasn't made the splash that Braden Fiske made at the Senior Bowl or NFL Combine a year ago, but his size, arm length, and athleticism are the type of thing that makes NFL General Managers drool.

Fiske with an incredible rookie year and battling Jared Verse for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year likely hasn't hurt the perception of FSU defensive tackles.

They have the 3-cone drill, 20-yard shuttle, and the bench press remaining for these guys. Fiske didn't do the three-cone drill but had a 4.27 shuttle and bench pressed 225 26 times.

I don't think Farmer can have the shuttle time Fiske had, but it's possible he can surpass his bench totals. Farmer's a guy who can play in the NFL for a long time if he stays healthy, and it's good to see him shining on the big stage.
