Florida State's 2024 football season was a disaster, where the Seminoles accumulated a 2-10 record. The fan base was disappointed with how they finished. It was not something that Florida State was used to being consistent contenders for a conference championship and national championship.
The Seminoles have three former players making their presence known in the contest, with defensive back Azareye'h Thomas, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald.
It is a bittersweet moment for these former Seminoles to accomplish their dreams and aspirations to make it to the NFL. One name that was been making headlines in the Senior Bowl process is defensive back, Azareye'h Thomas.
For reference, the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl will be taking place today (Saturday, February 1st) at 2:30 PM EST on the NFL Network.
Thomas was a former four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle that seemed to have been overshadowed because the former five-star at his position in Travis Hunter flipped from Florida State to Jackson State.
Thomas has not let that aspect stop him as a player from being widely successful at Florida State. During his three-year playing career with the Seminoles, he recorded 95 total tackles (nine for loss),15 pass deflections, and two interceptions.
With being a taller cornerback at 6'1" and 200 pounds, the Niceville product will be able to be physical with wide receivers when defending. Even though quicker pass catchers such as Oregon's Tez Johnson got the best of him, Thomas has still made his presence known.
Pro Football Network recently created a seven-round 2025 NFL Draft mock draft. It seems like Thomas would be considered a late first/early second-round pick.
They have Thomas being selected to the New York Giants with the 34th overall pick. The obvious need for the franchise is at the quarterback position, but they always need a stable cornerback that they can rely on.
I realize that the Giants will be a rebuilding team and some individuals would probably like to see him go to a proven winner so that he could shine in the NFL Playoffs. However, I know that Thomas will thrive in whatever defensive scheme that he is put in.
