FSU RECRUITING OUTLOOK
The summer time has been a red-hot period for the Florida State Seminoles on the recruiting trail. The Seminoles sit with the 12th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
However, the journey is not finished as head football coach Mike Norvell intends on adding more highly-touted prospects to the class. For reference, four-star tight end Landen Miree committed to Arizona State while four-star linebacker DQ Forkpa delayed his commitment date, which was supposed to be July 12th.
Four-star offensive tackle Wilson Zierer hasn't announced what date he will be deciding on, but the talented prospect will be selecting between Florida State, Auburn, and Alabama.
With that said, I want to highlight a few recruits that will be making their decisions this weekend.
FOUR-STAR TE HEZE KENT (JULY 12)
Four-star tight end Heze Kent was a priority for the Seminoles at one point in time, but it seems like when Florida State landed four-star Xavier Tiller at his position, they cooled in his recruitment. I expect Kent to land away from the Seminoles and commit to the arch-rival Florida Gators.
FOUR-STAR LB RODNEY COLTON JR. (JULY 12)
Florida State linebackers coach John Papuchis would like to secure a linebacker to pair alongside four-star Karon Maycock (if he sticks with the Seminoles) and three-star Noah LaVallee. His recruitment seems to be a roller coaster ride with the Seminoles, Ole Miss, and Colorado. I think the Rebels will win out unless the Buffaloes bring in the brink truck at the last second.
FOUR-STAR CB SAMARI MATTHEWS (JULY 11)
Florida State defensive back coaches Patrick Surtain Sr. and Evan Cooper have constructed a lethal defensive back class with the newest addition of five-star Chauncey Kennon. I believe that four-star Samari Matthews fell away from their target board, but I think Texas will get a tremendous talent.
THREE-STAR DE KATRELL WEBB (JULY 12)
Florida State struck out on three-star defensive end Chris Addison in favor of Michigan State. You don't see it as important that the Seminoles "whiff" on a prospect for the Spartans; this was likely due to an NIL factor. Three-star pass rusher Katrell Webb will be making his decision on July 12th.
Position coach Terrance Knighton has done a nice job of hauling in talented defensive linemen, but the Seminoles still need a true pass rusher, which defensive end Katrell Webb fits the description. He goes to the same high school that Travis Hunter did, so I hope there are no theaterics. I expect him to choose the Seminoles over Purdue and Indiana.
