ASHLEY HAS A CHANCE TO BE A NOLE
Florida State football learned that the Class of 2026 four-star defensive back Preston Ashley from Brandon, Mississippi, has narrowed his list to Florida State, Colorado, and Florida.
This is a group of schools that the Seminoles have to take seriously. The recruitment of Ashley has to be a priority for defensive back coaches Patrick Surtain Sr. and Evan Cooper. The Mississippi native has an official visit scheduled with Colorado on June 20th.
Head football coach Deion Sanders has been known to recruit against Florida State (former five-star prospect Travis Hunter). Then you have to keep a close eye on the arch-rival Florida Gators. The coaching staff doesn't want to get a highly-touted prospect in the fold for a team that you play every year.
MASSIVE TRIP FOR THE DEFENSIVE BACK
Florida State has a trip scheduled for Ashley on the weekend of August 29th. The most significant aspect to remember is that the coaching staff wants the talented defender to see the Seminoles face off against the ranked Crimson Tide on August 30th at 3:30 PM EST in the newly-renovated Doak Campbell Stadium.
This has to give confidence to the fan base that the coaching staff feels good about its chances of at least keeping it competitive against Alabama. Just imagine the potential of the 2026 recruiting class if Florida State finds a way to win.
Some readers might look at my article titled "Reason why FSU football could have a top-ten 2026 recruiting class" and think that I am insane. However, this could set up to be just what the doctor ordered for the Seminoles to be successful on the trail.
