FSU basketball had a nice two-game winning streak after Leonard Hamilton announced he was resigning at the end of the season.
The Noles defeated Notre Dame at home before traveling to Wake Forest and overcoming a huge second-half deficit to stun the Demon Deacons and hurt their chances to make the NCAA Tournament.
There would be no such comeback against the No. 23 Clemson Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Clemson destroyed FSU by 20 points on its home court last month, led by as many as 27 points late in the second half, and ultimately won 72-46.
The game was never close after the first five minutes with Clemson leading 10-4. They shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half, forcing 10 turnovers and converting them into 14 points. They killed FSU in the paint, scoring 22 of their 36 first-half points inside.
There were only 6 combined free throws in the first half. The FSU offense couldn't get it going, shooting only 32 percent in the first half.
They were 2 of 15 from three-point land and 7 of 17 from the charity stripe.
The FSU defense only forced four first-half turnovers, and that's a recipe for disaster when you're a team that struggles in the half-court setting.
FSU never got closer than 15 points in the second half and Jamir Watkins was the only FSU player to score in double figures with 14 points.
Clemson is the superior team, and it's why they defeated a top-five team like Duke last weekend.
FSU falls to (16-10, 6-8 ACC), but Leonard Hamilton will face a team he's owned over the past few years, the Miami Hurricanes. FSU has won 15 of the past 17 meetings and 13 of the last 14. The game will take place on Wednesday at 9 p.m. and air on the ACC Network.
Potential head coaching candidate and former player Luke Loucks was in attendance with Michael Alford. It's probably why Sam Cassell hasn't heard from FSU yet about the job.
