FSU football fans are familiar with the nonsense ESPN talking head Kirk Herbstreit spits out of his SEC-biased mouth. They watched him celebrate as Alabama pulled a rabbit out of their hat to defeat a terrible Auburn team last year, a win the media used to push the Crimson Tide past an undefeated FSU football team.
A year has gone by, and FSU football fans have been going at Kirk Herbstreit ever since, so much that he doesn't want to give his opinion as much. However, that didn't stop him from saying one of the most outrageous things ever after the first round of the 2024 CFP games.

Telling folks not to get caught up in wins is ridiculous for several reasons:
- Teams don't play the same schedule every year (even in conference play)
- Media preseason rankings have tons of bias and they use it to prop up the SEC/B1G teams
- Wins should always count more than bad losses
- Texas didn't beat a ranked team all year until defeating Clemson in their playoff game
Should teams not play conference games anymore? There's no way to properly rank strength of schedule because of the preseason rankings bias. It's always going to be subjective and teams can't help who they play because of the conference they play in.
He's advocating for SEC teams with three losses to get into the 12-team playoff, but those teams have awful losses. Those losses have to count, and it's why we play the games.
The media like Herbstreit is what's wrong with college football. They have an agenda because they get paid by the company that pays big money to air SEC games. The more SEC games they can get on TV, the better for the TV network. It's THE only reason the CFP committee put Alabama and Texas ahead of FSU last year(they had to put Texas in because they had beaten Alabama).
If the committee hadn't done that, the SEC wouldn't have had a team in the playoffs, and they were not going to let that happen. Remember that every time a talking head like Kirk Herbstreit speaks.
