Can we finally end the "Fire Mike Norvell" talk after the massive Alabama victory?

Mike Norvell is a good coach, in my opinion.

FSU FOOTBALL IS THE REAL DEAL

I realize that we entered the offseason with the question: How many wins does Mike Norvell have to get for him to be "safe"? This is a thought that I believed was ludicrous to think about.

There was a portion of the fan base that trusted Coach Norvell after being 10-3 in 2022 and 13-1 in 2023. He was then pursued by the Crimson Tide, and the Seminoles had to ensure that they didn't lose him, as he was rewarded with a contract extension for over $10 million per year.

Florida State football decided not to allow Norvell to slip through the cracks and prove to all the SEC teams that the Seminoles had the resources to keep him around and happy. I get that Florida State had the College Football Playoff snub in 2023, but the head coach Mike Norvell did a fantastic job of being humble through a difficult circumstance.

NORVELL IS SAFE

Individuals within the fan base overreact quite a bit, especially when you look at the "Fire Mike Norvell" Twitter (X) spaces after the 2021 Jacksonville State loss. It is impressive to see the progression with Florida State over the years as they went 3-6 in 2020, 6-7 in 2021, 10-3 in 2022, and 13-1 in 2023.

That made people think that the squad might take a step back, but 2-10 was not the standard of the program by anyone. I thought the 2024 campaign was an outlier in Tallahassee, but fans couldn't help but question his ability to be successful.

While I am not a fan of rushing the field after wins because Florida State is a proud program that should be used to competing for conference and national championships, I get that the Seminoles were dreadful last year, but it could have been almost to breathe a sigh of relief to finally have success after the playoff snub and the 2-10 season.

If Florida State football finds itself to be 4-0 heading into the Miami game, I know that fans will forget that they even questioned Coach Norvell.
