Florida State football's spring practices are inching closer to being finished, and the fan base still has plenty of questions to be answered. The coaching staff decided to shut off practice to the media, so access is hit or miss from sources within the program.

Florida State has had six losing seasons over the past eight years. The fan base is tired of continuously taking loss after loss. This program is supposed to be competing for championships, but is instead battling their lives just to make it to a bowl game.

Once again, individuals are having to welcome new players to the roster and new coaches to the staff. The season begins on Saturday, August 29th, against New Mexico State in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium.

The team isn't a perfect product by any means (no one is), but what are some of the biggest question marks for Florida State football as spring practices wind down?

1. Who will be the starting quarterback for the Seminoles?

This is obviously the elephant in the room. Florida State has not had any consistency since former quarterback Jordan Travis was in Tallahassee. Head coach Mike Norvell has a history of bringing in transfers, and he did so again this offseason with Ashton Daniels. He is currently battling with redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry. Plus, JUCO option Malachi Marshall is enrolling at Florida State this summer.

2. How will Florida State handle its running back room?

Florida State fans were exhausted of seeing the musical chairs in the running back room last year, but the Seminoles brought in new position coach Kam Martin, and hopefully, new days can be ahead. Florida State has plenty of options with Tre Wisner, Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton Jr., Amari Thomas, and Gemari Sands.

3. Will the Seminoles use some of their homegrown recruits on the offensive line?

Florida State's offensive line consisted of five of them being transfers. This unit turned out to be very solid under position coach Herb Hand, but it would be ideal if some of the homegrown talent got opportunities. One name that has emerged as a leader is redshirt junior Andre Otto. He has been exceptional this spring in being someone that the coaching staff can count on.

4. Who is standing out on the defensive line to rush the passer?

Florida State fans fell for the hype of transfer James Williams last year, with him being reunited with defensive line coach Terrance Knighton and defensive coordinator Tony White from Nebraska. However, the Seminoles had a lackluster defensive line in 2025. Individuals know what they have with the Desir Twins, but who else will emerge in the trenches?

5. Are the linebackers worth the hype for the defense?

Florida State had a bad taste in their mouths as the arch-rival Florida Gators knocked them out of bowl game contention. Running back Jadan Baugh had himself a 200+ yard performance, where the defense looked lost at times. The Seminoles went out and grabbed pieces like transfers Chris Jones and Mikai Gbayor, which should help the effectiveness of the defense. However, will it be enough for Florida State's defense to be noteworthy?
