Are the departures on the Seminoles' football roster via the portal a good thing?

Are the departures a good sign?

Let me start by stating that I see what Florida State football fans are saying on Twitter (X), my best impersonation of former defensive back Jarrian Jones during his press conference, where they continue to complain about the departures in the transfer portal for the Seminoles.

I am always one to showcase a sense of positivity for the program since I bleed garnet and gold and want to see Florida State football successful, just like every one of you. I understand that 2-10 was something that made many individuals frustrated.

The Seminoles should not be used to what transpired. The fan base should be accustomed to competing for conference and national championships.

There have been some who have lost faith in head football coach Mike Norvell. Those same people were praising him for how great a coach he was after leading Florida State to a 13-1 record in 2023 and even being pursued by Alabama to replace the legendary Nick Saban.

There has been some criticism throughout Norvell's tenure about a variety of aspects, but one constant remained the same: His pursuit in the transfer portal.

He has had his fair share of high-quality transfers, such as Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Jermaine Johnson II, Keir Thomas, Trey Benson, Tatum Bethune, Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, Jaheim Bell, Jashaun Corbin, Fabien Lovett Sr., Jarrian Jones, Dillan Gibbons, Jammie Robinson, Darrell Jackson Jr., and many others.

Even a player like defensive back Earl Little Jr., who did not do too much last year, is receiving raving reviews from defensive coordinator Tony White. The spring transfer portal window for undergraduates is open to enter the portal by April 25th.

I wouldn't panic right now. Norvell has a track record of acquiring high-quality transfers. I believe in his evaluation process with transfers.
