COMPARING THE 2025 TRANSFER PORTAL CLASS
Florida State football is not finished with acquiring transfers in the 2025 cycle, as I alluded to in a previous article. However, I can at least evaluate what the Seminoles have done so far. It is so refreshing to see the assistant coaching staff going to work to get the players they need.
The Seminoles have eleven transfers signed so far, with Thomas Castellanos, Duce Robinson, Randy Pittman, Markeston Douglas, Micah Pettus, Luke Petitbon, Gunnar Hansen, Adrian Medley, James Williams, Deante McCray, and Stefon Thompson.
When looking at the list, you notice something right away. The Seminoles picked up transfers who produced and were multi-year starters. I said that the trenches would be important for Florida State to get back to where they want to be.
Newly acquired offensive line coach Herb Hand has made his presence known. Pettus started in games for the Rebels over the past three years, Petitbon started the last two seasons, Hansen started the past three years, and Medley started 18 games in two years.
As for Thomas Castellanos, Florida State fans know him too well, as he had his best performance versus the Seminoles on the road. It looks like he just needed a change of scenery away from Bill O'Brien. As for Duce Robinson, he had 750 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in two years. Then Randy Pittman had 600 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his two seasons.
The difference is clear as the Seminoles' coaching staff did not go after prospects with potential, they decided to add transfers that had proven potential as Mike Norvell heads into a pivotal sixth season in Tallahassee.
