DBU IS BACK
Florida State football had an incredible victory this past Saturday versus the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 31-17. The Seminoles were counted out after their 2-10 record as the game was viewed as "non-competitive" pre-game against the SEC powerhouse.
However, head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad found a way to win and battle through the adversity that arose. It wasn't easy as the doubters began to creep in (even from the Seminole fan base).
One player who got his recognition for the contest was redshirt junior defensive back Earl Little Jr. The defensive back got revenge on his former team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. The former American Heritage High School standout led the team with tackles (9) as he brought the physicality all afternoon.
ASHLYND BARKER IS HERE TO STAY
Florida State football fans were not thrilled when looking at the projected depth chart versus Alabama because there were players on the roster that individuals didn't think would have valuable reps.
One of those contributors was redshirt junior Ashlynd Barker. The Columbus, Georgia product was someone who was under the radar on the recruiting scene, as he didn't get the attention that he deserved. Being a taller 6'3" defensive back, he went the JUCO route to get more eyes on him, and it panned out for him.
Barker had a huge impact in the Alabama game, where he practically gave the Crimson Tide's wide receiver Ryan Williams nightmares coming across the middle of the field, as he was in danger of being hit hard.
Overall, Barker and Little Jr. made their presence known all day. The veteran finished with three tackles and two pass deflections in the season opener. This should open the door for the defender to be more confident in his abilities as the Seminoles go throughout their season.
